Exo’s Lay to kick off solo career in China

Singer Lay of boy band Exo will make his official solo debut in China with mini-album “LOSE CONTROL” on Oct. 28.
The singer’s agency SM Entertainment said on Friday, “[The singer] is currently going back and forth between Korea and China in preparation for the album. He will show fans a side of himself never seen before.”
The agency said that the upcoming record will contain six tracks, all of which were written and composed by the singer himself. The album will go on sale in both Korea and China as the singer will become the first EXO member to go solo.
The singer released his solo track “what U need?” along with a music video on Oct. 7 as a celebration of his birthday, which was also self-written and composed. It is unknown if the tune will be included in his upcoming album.
The singer debuted as a member of the SM boy band in 2012. He recently starred in the Chinese drama “The Mystic Nine,” and released his first solo track “Monodrama” through his agency’s digital music project STATION in May.
