YB, Inlayer collab with hip-hop stars on song
Rock bands YB and Inlayer collaborated with hip-hop artists Reddy and G2 to release a new track featuring SM Entertainment idol trainee Johnny. The song “Nightmare,” which will be released through SM’s digital music project STATION will be a blend of unconventional genres including progressive metal, hip-hop and electronica. The song will be an experimental oddity compared to the tracks previously released through STATION, which has relied on more conventional music styles.
The music video for the new track will be released on Oct. 28. The SM trainee Johnny, who is a member of the label’s “pre-debut” idol group SM Rookies, will appear behind the turntables as a DJ. The singer previously made an appearance at the Spectrum Dance Music Festival this month to display his DJing chops to fans.
Veteran rock star Yoon Do-hyun of YB took charge of the vocals with help from the featured rappers. The hip-hop artists in particular became known thanks to their appearance on Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 5.” The instrumentals were handled by the experimental metal band Inlayer, which signed to SM in May.
