CJ Korea Express acquires warehouse near Jakarta

CJ Korea Express, the parcel delivery service that recently extended into China, want to further expand into Southeast Asia.

The company announced Wednesday that it has acquired a large warehouse for 28.5 billion won ($24.86 million) in an industrial complex in Bekasi, eastern Indonesia. The warehouse is bigger than four football fields. Bekasi is a one-hour drive from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. An international airport and port are within a two-hour drive.

CJ Korea Express has 106 delivery points in 22 countries, including 22 locations in eight Southeast Asian countries.

“We’re reaching further into Southeast Asia, after having settled down in China,” said a company spokesperson. “We have numerous plans for growth such as mergers and share purchases [of local delivery services] to become one of the top five global logistics companies.”
