Singers respond to Choi-gate through song

Popular singers Lee Seung-hwan, Lee Hyo-ri, and Jeon In-kwon released their free collaboration “Abandoned on the Street” today.

According to Lee Seung-hwan’s agency Dream Factory on Thursday, the song will attempt to provide “condolence” to Koreans who are currently “being hit by the razor sharp winds of a tragic reality,” referring to President Park’s political scandal.

The song was jointly produced by Lee Seung-hwan and songwriter Lee Kyu-ho, and features instrumentation by exceptional musicians such as bassist Min Jae-hyeon of Jeon’s band, drummer Choi Ki-woong of Lee Seung-hwan’s band, and guitarist Lee Sang-sun, who is Lee Hyo-ri’s husband.

The announcement of the song made additional headlines due to the involvement of Lee Hyo-ri, who ordinarily chooses to remain silent on social issues.

“Lee Hyo-ri wrote and provided her parts for the song within 30 minutes of receiving the track,” said Dream Factory. “We believe that these small steps taken by musicians to create our ‘national condolence project’ will have a large effect on society.”
