A new marketplace for start-ups

Financial officials celebrate the launch of the KRX Start-up Market at Korea Exchange’s headquarters in Yeouido, western Seoul, on Monday. The over-the-counter market will allow investors to trade stocks of unlisted start-ups, including those that have succeeded in raising money through crowdfunding. A total of 37 start-ups are currently registered on the new market, 23 of which received crowdfunding. Hwang Young-key, chairman of the Korea Financial Investment Association, third from left; Lee Byung-rhae, standing commissioner of the Financial Services Commission, fourth from left; and Jeong Chan-woo, CEO of the Korea Exchange, fifth from left, participated in the ceremony.
