Government inks deal to cut costs of renting electric cars

The government said it will sign an agreement on Wednesday with four major car rental companies to offer customers who lease electric vehicles lower rates.

Lotte Rent-a-Car, Hyundai Capital Services, AJRentacar and SK Networks will offer discounts on long-term lease programs, the Ministry of Environment said Tuesday. The deal is expected to help increase the number of electric vehicles on the road, while reducing the costs for drivers.

Leasers will not have to pay car registration fees, automobile tax or insurance premiums for three years.
