Kim Se-jeong’s ‘Flower Road’ debuts on top

Idol singer Kim Se-jeong’s first solo single debuted at the top of the charts.

Kim, a member of popular K-pop girl groups I.O.I and Gugudan released her single “Flower Road” on Wednesday, sweeping the top spot at all major music charts, including Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Naver Music.

The song was produced by fellow idol star and hip-hop producer Zico, and came out on top over competition from K-pop act Twice and the collaboration between Kim Hee-chul and Min Kyung-hoon. The slow-tempo ballad features gentle piano and acoustic guitar sounds to accompany Kim’s voice.

The singer was previously quoted as saying “let’s only walk on flower roads now” to her mother during her appearance as a contestant on the Mnet music survival program “Produce 101.” The quote quickly became a popular saying on online forums.

The song was released as the third music production made possible by Jelly Box, which is Jellyfish Entertainment’s own digital music channel, similar in concept to SM Entertainment’s Station.
