Kim Moo-sung throws support to impeachment

Rep. Kim Moo-sung, former chairman of the ruling party and chief campaign manager for President Park Geun-hye in the 2012 race, said Wednesday that he will sponsor a motion to impeach her.

김무성 전 새누리당 대표는 수요일 박근혜 대통령 탄핵을 발의하겠다고 말했다. 김 의원은 2012년 대선 때 박근혜 후보 선거운동 본부장이었다.
Kim, a six-term lawmaker of the Saenuri Party, held a press conference in the morning and announced the abandoning of his ambition to run in the next presidential election.

새누리당 6선인 김 의원은 이날 오전 기자회견을 열어 대선 불출마도 선언했다.
“It was a dream for the final chapter of my political career,” Kim said. He is giving up that dream “because I share responsibility for the current national chaos as a politician who contributed to the launch of the Park administration and a former chairman of the Saenuri Party.”

김 의원은 “[대권 도전은] 나의 정치 인생의 종착지의 꿈이었습니다”고 말했다. 김 의원은 그 꿈을 포기하는 이유는 “박근혜 정부의 출범에 기여했고 새누리당 전 대표였던 정치인으로서 현재의 국가적 혼란에 어느 정도 책임이 있기 때문”이라고 말했다.
Calling Park a failed president, Kim said he will do everything to prevent the fall of the conservatives due to the crisis surrounding Park.

박 대통령을 실패한 대통령이라고 지칭하면서 김 의원은 박 대통령으로 발생한 위기 때문에 보수진영이 몰락하는 것을 방지하기 위해 최선을 다할 것이라고 말했다.
“A president who violated the Constitution must be impeached,” he said. “In order to reinvent the conservatives and to take the responsibility before the people, I will lead a discussion inside the Saenuri Party to sponsor a motion to impeach her.”

그는 “헌법을 위반한 대통령은 탄핵돼야 한다”고 말했다. “국민 앞에 책임을 지고 보수진영을 새로 만들어내기 위해 새누리당 내에서 박 대통령 탄핵안을 발의하는 논의에 앞장설 것이다.”
After weeks of investigation, the prosecution Sunday indicted Park’s friend Choi Soon-sil and two former presidential aides for a range of crimes including coercion of money from big companies and the creation of slush funds.
*indict: 기소하다

몇 주 동안 수사한 검찰은 일요일 대기업을 강요해서 강제 모금하고 비자금을 만든 혐의를 포함한 다양한 혐의로 박근혜 대통령의 측근 최순실씨와 전 청와대 비서들을 기소했다.
The prosecutors called Park a “ co-conspirator” in most of the crimes, but could not indict her because of the presidential immunity stipulated in the Constitution. But Park can be charged after she steps down.
*co-conspirator: 공모자
*immunity: 면책 특권
검찰은 박 대통령을 대부분의 범죄에서 “공모자”로 적시했으나 헌법이 보장한 대통령 면책 특권 때문에 박 대통령을 기소할 수 없었다. 그러나 박 대통령은 대통령직에서 사퇴하면 기소될 수 있다.
