The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries lifted the Sewol ferry from the bottom of the sea off Jindo Island in South Jeolla on Thursday, nearly three years after it sank on April 16, 2014. Of the 476 passengers on board, 304 died, with nine bodies still unrecovered.
