Hyundai hopes to revive sales in China with ‘Encino’

Hyundai Motor introduced the “Encino” subcompact sport-utility vehicle in a Chinese motor show, in a move to revive sales in the world’s biggest automobile market, the company said Friday.

In the 15th China Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, the country’s largest carmaker by sales has unveiled the Encino subcompact SUV, the Chinese version of the Kona SUV, Hyundai Motor said in a statement.

The Encino SUV equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will go on sale in the Chinese market in the first quarter of next year, it said.
