Vibe apologizes for mocking fans

Pop ballad duo Vibe apologized for mocking a female audience member during a concert held on Dec. 29.

According to reviews on Interpark, a ticket purchasing website, Yoon Min-soo made jokes about an audience member who came to the stage for a special event. The review says that when the woman came up, Yoon sarcastically said, “Wow, good job on your eyes. Later, during ‘4th gate’ put her on screen.”

The track “4th gate” features lyrics such as “Gather around exit 4 of Apgujeong Station, every one has the same or similar faces. We want a fake [face] that mimics a real one.”

During the performance of the song, several women in the audience were shown on screen along with a scene from the comic series “Gangnam Miindo” which translates to “Specimen of Gangnam Beauty.” The cartoon satirizes Korean women who undergo extreme plastic surgery and end up having similar faces.

The apology letter posted on the duo’s official webpage read “We didn’t mean to belittle women or criticize plastic surgery. We were trying to make the performance fun, but we went too far.”

Other reviews said that the concert was disappointing because the singers seemed to be performing insincerely and that Yoon’s microphone was much louder than Ryu Jae-hyun’s.
