Ex-BMW developer made president at Hyundai Motor

Hyundai Motor Group said Friday it has promoted a former BMW high-performance car developer to the post of president, a move that underscores the South Korean carmaker’s focus on developing high-end models.

Albert Biermann, 60, has been in charge of the development of top-of-the-line vehicles at Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors, the two flagship units of the world’s fifth-biggest carmaker.

Biermann joined Hyundai Motor Group in 2015 to improve performance capabilities for vehicles made by Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors.
