Raised fishery goods production hits record high

Korea’s production of fishery goods raised at fish farms surpassed the 2 million ton mark last year for the first time and is expected to hit another record this year amid growing popularity of Korean marine products abroad, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said Tuesday.

The amount was tallied at 2.16 million tons last year and is forecast to rise 3.4 percent to 2.21 million tons this year, about 60 percent of the country’s total fishery products, the ministry said in a report.

Korea will likely produce 155 million packs of 100 sheets of dried laver this year, up 10 percent from the previous year.
