DSP Media founder is dead at 64

Lee Ho-yeon, founder of entertainment company DSP Media, passed away Wednesday after suffering from a brain hemorrhage in 2010.

According to the company, “He was fighting the illness at home, but he was rushed to the emergency room on Tuesday night.”

His funeral will be held at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital in Seocho District beginning Thursday.

Lee produced several idol groups including popular ’90s groups such as Sobangcha, Sechs Kies, and Fin K.L, as well as SS501 and Kara.

He received the producer award at the Golden Disk Awards in 2009, and in October 2015, he was given the Presidential Award from the Korean Popular Culture And Arts Awards organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency, for improving the reputation of K-pop worldwide.
