Lotte Chilsung Cider wins iF Product Design Award

Vintage cans of Korea’s 67-year-old carbonated beverage Lotte Chilsung Cider received the iF Product Design Award in the beverage packaging section this year.

For many decades, the dominant color that covered Chilsung Cider’s can and bottles was green. But a special series released last year showed that the first version of Chilsung Cider cans released in the 1950s had a yellow background with red letters.

In April, Lotte Chilsung launched a limited set comprised of five vintage cans which each variation showing how the bestseller’s design had transformed from the 1950s to 1990s.

At first, only 120,000 were produced, but the edition was so popular that Lotte Chilsung had to make more at the end of last year. The vintage cans can be found at 7-Eleven stores.

The iF Product Design Award is one of the three most prestigious design awards in the world. This year, it had more than 6,400 entries from 54 countries competing across 70 categories.
