Google Korea chosen as top foreign company to work for

Google Korea ranked No.1 as the most desirable place to work among foreign companies in the country for the 10th consecutive year, according to a survey by the job search website Saramin released Thursday.

The survey asked 423 job seeking respondents which foreign company they would like to work for. With multiple answers allowed, 34.3 percent said they wanted to work for Google Korea.

BMW Korea followed second by 18 percent, followed by Coca-Cola Korea with 14.7 percent. Starbucks Korea scored 13.9 percent and tech giants Apple Korea and Facebook Korea came next, at 13.2 percent and 11.3 percent respectively.

Four among 10 respondents cited a horizontal organization culture as the reason they wanted to enter a foreign company. High wages came next at 33.3 percent and welfare policies came third at 31.4 percent. Around 28 percent said more opportunities to work abroad was an attractive factor.

The ability they thought would be most crucial for entering such companies was foreign language skills, which received the vote of 65.7 percent of respondents.
