Bird flu hits chicken farms in Gyeonggi, Chungcheong
Health authorities began culling chickens at three farms in Gyeonggi and South Chungcheong on Sunday after bird flu was detected at the farms on Friday and Saturday.The three farms - in Pyeongtaek and Yangju in Gyeonggi and Asan in South Chungcheong - were confirmed to have the highly pathogenic H5N6 avian influenza.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs suspended the transport of all farm products nationwide except on Jeju Island for two days from 7 p.m. on Saturday to 9 p.m. on Monday to prevent the disease from spreading further.
