Amorepacific, Korea’s largest cosmetics company, said Tuesday that it would let customers try out makeup virtually using the Bixby feature on Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones.

Bixby is Samsung’s artificial intelligence-powered assistant. It can detect visual information through the phone’s camera.

Amorepacific said the new service will also allow users to purchase products they try out.

In Korea, the service will be available for nine Amorepacific brands, starting with Sulwhasoo, Laneige, Iope, Mamonde, Aritaum, Etude House and Espoir and then expanding to Innisfree and Hera in May.

On Galaxy S9 and S9+ models sold in China, the function will be available for Etude House and Innisfree. In the United States, users can try out Laneige products.

“The latest collaboration with Samsung Electronics is an opportunity for Amorepacific to effectively showcase the brands’ concept and products to global customers,” said an official from the cosmetics company. “Amorepacific will continue to move forward in digital innovation and collaborate with diverse industries.”
