A family’s farewell

The burial procession for Ahn Jeom-soon, a victim of the Japanese military’s sexual slavery during World War II, is carried by her family and friends at the Ajou University Hospital in Suwon, Gyeonggi, on Sunday. Ahn visited Wiesent, Germany, last month to attend a ceremony unveiling the first “comfort women” statue in Europe. Ahn’s death on Friday at the age of 90 brings the total number of surviving comfort women to 29. [YONHAP]
