Asiana, Lufthansa team up for Boeing plane repairs

Asiana Airlines said Thursday that it has signed a 10-year deal with Lufthansa Technik for component maintenance on its Boeing 777 fleet.

The deal covers nine aircrafts in Asiana’s Boeing 777-200ER fleet and component repairs will take place at Lufthansa Technik’s workshops in Hamburg. Kim E-Bae, executive vice president of corporate support at Asiana Airlines, said the carrier has selected Lufthansa Technik as the strategic partner for its 777 components maintenance.

“We are convinced about Lufthansa Technik’s customer-aimed support, which already proved its value throughout our long-term partnership,” Kim said in a statement posted on the website of Lufthansa Technik.

Asiana Airlines and Lufthansa Technik, a wholly owned subsidiary of Germany’s Lufthansa, have been working together for more than 25 years.
