Former Sex Pistols bassist to perform at DMZ

Glen Matlock, a former member of the British punk rock band Sex Pistols, will perform at a music festival near the demilitarized zone (DMZ) next month, the concert’s organizer said Thursday.

Matlock joined the final lineup of performers for the DMZ Peace Train Music Festival, which will run from June 21 to 24 at border towns near the heavily fortified buffer zone between the two Koreas.

He will go on during the last day of the festival and perform the Sex Pistols’ 1976 hit “Anarchy in the U.K.” Matlock will also perform with two local punk bands, Crying Nut and No Brain.

Matlock was the Sex Pistols’ bass guitarist. He first reached out to the festival’s organizer and offered to perform without financial rewards, according to the organizer, because he was motivated by the success of the inter-Korean summit between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on April 27.
