Kendrick Lamar is coming to Seoul

Rapper Kendrick Lamar will perform for the first time in Korea on July 30 at Jamsil Sports Complex in southern Seoul as a part of the Hyundai Card Super Concert series.

The Grammy-winning musician is known for combining elements of hip-hop, jazz, poetry, soul, funk and African music in his work.

Lamar’s first major success was his album “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” released in 2012. The album hit No. 2 on the Billboard album chart, and sold over 1.7 million copies in the United States alone. He was even nominated for Album of the Year at the 56th Grammy Awards.

In 2017, the rapper had another hit with his album “DAMN,” and the first single “Humble,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Lamar took home 5 awards including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song at the 60th Grammy Awards this year. He was also the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the Pulitzer Prize in music.

“Kendrick Lamar is not only the top musician in the world of hip-hop, but also an artist who has changed the history of hip-hop,” said a Hyundai Card representative on Tuesday.

Tickets will go on sale on June 8 through Interpark.
