Mercedes-Benz Korea launched a Cabriolet version of its bestselling E-Class on Thursday, completing a total of 17 versions of its bestselling midsize sedan in Korea.

The Korean affiliate of the German premium carmaker said Thursday that it has launched a convertible version of the E-Class’ 10th generation, the New E 400 Cabriolet.

The midsize sedan now has four variations in Korea, including the sedan, the coupe version, the AMG version and the Cabriolet version. Such a wide range is expected to help the sedan maintain its best-selling position for the German car importer.

Since its launch in Korea in June 2016, the E-Class sold 63,096 units as of April.

Cabriolet variations are available for the company’s C-Class and S-Class sedans as well.

“The New E 400 Cabriolet is a four-seater convertible, which makes it suitable for a family car,” said an official from the Korean affiliate. “It got bigger than the previous version.”

Target customers are people in their 30s or 40s.

The New E 400 Cabriolet is equipped with a soft top made of three layers of fabric in order to block noise coming from the outside.

The top can be opened within 20 seconds as long as the vehicle is running at a speed of less than 50 kilometers per hour (31 miles per hour). It also opens with a press of a button on the smart key, which can be done outside the vehicle. When the top is down, it nests in the trunk.

At that time, the trunk can accommodate 310 liters of luggage. But when the top is up, the trunk can hold 385 liters worth of luggage.

In order to emphasize the sportiness of the convertible, the New E 400 Cabriolet’s front grille has been placed lower than on its sedan version. The diamond radiator grille and the tri-star emblem adds to the stylish vibe.

The convertible has been equipped with a partial autonomous driving technology as well. In addition to Benz’s Driving Assistance Package, which includes basic smart driving features like lane-keeping assist, it is equipped with Active Parking Assist which is able to drive forward and backward on its own to park a car in a space it found by itself.

Equipped with a 3-liter V6 gasoline engine and a nine-speed transmission, it is capable of 333 horsepower and torque of 48.9 kilogram-meters.

Its diesel version will be launched in the latter half of the year.

The price starts at 98 million won ($90,860).
