Kim Ki-duk sues accusing actresses
Filmmaker Kim Ki-duk, who was accused of sexual assault by several unnamed actresses on an episode of MBC’s “PD Notebook,” has filed a defamation suit against the actresses and “PD Notebook,” according to a source in the judiciary Sunday.On the “PD Notebook” episode that aired on May 8, three unnamed actresses came forward with stories of how they were forced into sexual relationships by Kim, including an actress who filed a criminal complaint against Kim in January 2017 for slapping her and forcing her to touch a fellow actor’s genitals during the shooting of “Moebius” (2013).
The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office terminated Kim’s case on Dec. 7, 2017 with non-indictment due to lack of evidence. But he was found guilty of assault and fined five million won ($4,668). Kim has filed a criminal complaint about the actress for making a false accusation, according to the source.
“I cannot say that I have done nothing to shame myself to the public, as someone who has a family,” Kim is said to have told the prosecution office. “But I’m not a rapist, as was claimed on ‘PD Notebook.’ I am being damaged on a tremendous level due to the false accusations, allegations and airing of the program, which was based on malicious, false facts.”
According to the testimonies aired on “PD Notebook,” Kim is said to have called the actresses into his room on separate occasions, asking them to have sexual intercourse with him and asking them vulgar questions such as, “What do you think my penis looks like,” or “Can I see what your body looks like?”
Kim has currently filed a complaint against the actresses and the production for defamation using publication materials, but has not talked to the press as of Sunday.
