Stars celebrate Election Day on social media

Celebrities across Korea took to social media Wednesday to encourage their fellow citizens to get out and vote.

Wednesday marked Election Day, and nearly 4,000 local government positions and 12 seats in the National Assembly were up for grabs around the country.

Celebrities young and old posted selfies on Instagram of themselves at the polls.

Actor Go A-ra uploaded a picture of the stamp she received on her hand after she voted. Entertainer Jun Hyun-moo posted a photo of himself standing in front of his local poll station, and captioned it, “Please don’t make me regret my decision to vote.”

Other celebrities who shared their voting experience online included entertainer Kim Na-young, singer Lee Seong-yeol of boy band Infinite and actor Kim So-hyun, above, who voted for the very first time this year.

Voting took place at 14,134 polling centers around the nation from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
