NeonPunch debuts with first song

Girl group NeonPunch from the JTBC singing competition program “Mixnine” debuted with their single “Moonlight” on Wednesday.

In celebration of their debut single being released, the girls held a showcase performance at the Hanatour V-Hall in Hongdae, western Seoul.

At the showcase, the girls introduced themselves as “a girl group that hopes to brighten up the stage and show off our own distinct charm.”

The group first appeared on “Mixnine,” a competition program where YG Entertainment’s founder and producer Yang Hyun-suk visits different labels to find potential stars that competed to be part of the show’s final group.

NeonPunch is the first girl group from the show to release music. The final group from “Mixnine” was not able to debut because Yang was not confident that the group would be a success in the K-pop market.

The group’s single is a dance song with a house funk rhythm fit for the hot summer.

“Our goal is to promote our name so that many people will know us,” said NeonPunch as they ended the showcase. They added, “We are trying to meet as many of our fans as possible.”
