GS25 stores to start offering paper bags from July 12

GS25 will be the first convenience store to adopt paper bags starting from this month, the company said Tuesday.

The new scheme will launch on July 12. The bags are made of recyclable paper and are priced at 150 won or 100 won according to size. Plastic bags will remain as an option.

“The adoption of paper bags was devised with the hope that considering paper as an option would be natural for consumers one day,” the company said in a statement.

GS25 has been experimenting small, eco-friendly strategies in its branches. For consumers of brewed coffee, a discount of 100 or 200 won is offered to those that bring personal cups. It also offers electronic receipts through a phone app to reduce paper waste.
