Men spend more on luxury bags, wallets and shoes

Luxury goods targeting male consumers are gaining popularity in Korea amid an expansion of the male grooming market, online retailers said Thursday.

Gmarket, a major online retailer, said that the company recorded a 37 percent on-year increase in the number of imported luxury bags for men sold during the January-June period, above the 32 percent growth tallied by overall imported luxury bags during the cited period.

Sales of wallets and shoes in the men’s luxury goods category also jumped 18 percent and 16 percent on-year, respectively, the company said.

11st, another online shopping platform, said transaction volume in its men’s imported luxury goods category rose 7 percent on-year in the first half of the year.
