SK Telecom tries bringing technology to old homesSK Telecom inked a partnership with the Korea Eco interior Promotion Association on Monday to offer its smart home services to older homes being renovated.
Mobile carriers have been teaming up with builders to supply their smart home platforms including smart plugs, fine dust sensors and smart speakers to new apartment buildings. Older houses are a different market for the latest smart home technology.
According to Korea’s largest mobile carrier, the partnership will enable more than 2,000 households to benefit from smart home technology every year. Currently, apartments built 20 years ago or more account for roughly 46 percent of the housing market in Korea.
