Samsung Electronics rises to No. 12 on 2018 Fortune 500

Samsung Electronics ranked No. 12 on this year’s Fortune Global 500, an all-time high since it entered the list in 1995.
Every year, the U.S. business magazine publishes a ranking of the 500 biggest companies in the world by revenue. Sixteen were Korean companies.
Samsung moved three ranks up from last year and was the only Korean company in the top 20. Its annual revenue in 2017 was $211.9 billion.
In terms of profit, the electronics giant was ranked fifth among 500 companies with $36.6 billion.
Hyundai Motor (No. 78) and SK (No. 84) also ranked within the top 100. SK Hynix and CJ Group joined the ranks for the first time. The chipmaker ranked at No. 442 while the retail and entertainment conglomerate came in at 493.
