BTS album preorders top 1.5 million copies
Preorders for K-pop stars BTS’ upcoming album in Korea topped 1.5 million copies in the first week they were available, its management agency said Wednesday.
Since preorders started July 18 for the third studio album, “Love Yourself: Answer,” the domestic accumulated orders had reached 1,511,910 as of Tuesday, according to Big Hit Entertainment.
The weekly feat marks 62,000 copies more than the number of preorders for its previous album, “Love Yourself: Tear,” released in May.
The upcoming album, the finale of BTS’ four-part “Love Yourself” series, also claimed the best-seller spot on American online retailer Amazon’s CD & vinyl category for the seventh day in a row Tuesday, before coming down to second place Wednesday.
The new album, a package of seven fresh tracks plus songs from BTS’ previous releases, is set for release Aug. 24.
“Love Yourself: Tear,” meanwhile, ranked 49th on Billboard’s 200 most popular albums Wednesday, staying on the chart for the ninth consecutive week after the album first landed on the list at No. 1.
