BTS’ ‘Love Yourself: Tear’ goes gold in Japan

Boy group BTS received a gold certification for their album “Love Yourself: Tear” by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) on Friday.

To be qualified for a gold certification by the RIAJ, a single or an album must sell at least 100,000 units. For a platinum certification and a double platinum certification, the single or the album must sell at least 250,000 and 500,000 units respectively.

The group previously received platinum certifications for their Japanese version single “Blood, Sweat & Tears” and their Japanese EP titled “Face Yourself.” BTS was also certified double platinum for the Japanese version of their songs “MIC Drop,” “DNA” and “Crystal Snow.”

“Love Yourself: Tear” is BTS’ first Korean album to receive a certification by the RIAJ.

BTS is scheduled to visit seven countries on their upcoming world tour which will kick off with concerts at the Jamsil Sports Complex, southern Seoul, Aug. 25 and 26.
