Eighty years ago, on November 10, 1938, members of the Presbyterian Church of Chosun were about to decide whether they would worship the Japanese Emperor at Japanese shrines.

무엇보다도 그것은 "나 외에 다른 신을 섬기지 말라" 했던 기독교의 핵심교리에 어긋난 일이었습니다.
The decision was against the basic Christian doctrine of “Do not worship any other god.”

They should also be aware that shinto worship is an expression of patriotism…
As citizens of the Japanese Empire, we should fulfill our duties.”

“Shinto worship is not a religious ritual. It is a patriotic ritual.”
이후 그들은 국방헌금, 또 일본군 위문금 모금을 결정했고 애국기라는 이름의 전투기 헌납까지 결의합니다.
Since then, the church decided to collect donations for national defense and small gifts for Japanese soldiers, and even decided to donate a combat plane for the Japanese Imperial army.
