The BCA Awards, one of the construction industry’s greatest honors, are awarded based on evaluations by Singapore’s Building & Construction Authority’s evaluation. Projects that have recently been completed or are currently under construction are eligible for awards in 10 categories including construction, environment, design, safety and quality.
The Yale-NUS College is a collaboration between Yale University and the National University of Singapore. It is a residential liberal arts college based in Singapore.
Ssangyong E&C won the $180 million project in October, 2012.
The campus dedication ceremony was held in October, 2015. About 30 university presidents from across Asia joined signatories including Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the event.
The university aims to be an eco-friendly campus, so Ssangyong E&C installed Low-E Glass that conducts heat and canopy louvers to enable ventilation but block sunlight. An “ecopond” and recycling system add to the campus’ eco-friendly nature, securing it a platinum BCA Green Mark rating, one of the world’s top 3 environmental certifications, in 2013.
“We have reconfirmed that Ssangyong E&C is the best at construction among the companies who work in this field through the record of receiving the Singapore BCA Awards for 10 years in a row — 30 times overall,” said a Ssangyong E&C spokesperson. “Our customers want to promote Ssangyong E&C’s awards record, proving that the company’s unmatched technology and confidence is being recognized across the industry.”
