Epik High’s contract with YG ends
Hip-hop group Epik High is leaving its management agency, YG Entertainment, according to the agency on Tuesday.“We have decided to terminate our contract with Epik High,” said the agency in an official statement. “The decision comes after a long discussion with the trio. We are grateful to Tablo and Epik High for presenting great music for seven years, and we support their new chapter elsewhere.”
“We thank all the fans who have given support to Epik High,” the agency added.
The hip-hop trio, comprised of Tablo, rapper Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz, debuted in 2003 with the album “Map Of The Human Soul.” The group became popular in 2005, with its song “Fly” off of the album “Swan Songs.” The group’s other hits include “Love Love Love” (2007), “One” (2008) and “Umbrella” (2008).
After signing with YG Entertainment on July 2012, the group released several albums including “99” (2012), “Shoebox” (2014) and “We’ve Done Something Wonderful” (2017).
