Nearly 20 municipal governments have shown interest in hosting the new national football center, an official from Korea’s football governing body said Friday.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) is set to open the bidding process for construction of a new national football center next week. But the official said the KFA had already received lots of inquiries from local governments.
“We have yet to open the process, but nearly 20 local governments asked for a meeting or sent inquiries regarding the new national football center,” said Park Yong-chul, a deputy chief at the KFA’s future strategy and planning office. “We need to review the accessibility of the site and other conditions.”
Park said the KFA will also consider sites outside of the Seoul metropolitan area. The National Football Center (NFC) in Paju is located just north of the capital city.
