The EastLight. reveals abuse issues

Lee Seok-cheol, member of the band The EastLight., spoke out about the physical abuse the group suffered from music producer for four years.

“We were physically abused by the producer of Media Line Entertainment, from 2015 to 2017,” Lee said at a press conference held on Friday. “He said that he would kill us if we told our parents. Member Lee Seung-hyun was confined at the producer’s studio and was hit in his arms, thighs and head until he was bruised. Vocalist Lee Eun-sung was also beaten until he bled,” he added.

“We were very careful about reporting this to anyone because we were singers. When one of the members went to talk about it to Kim Chang-hwan, the head of our agency, they told us that we were being rude and threatened to disband us. He said that he would tell the press that we had been disbanded due to health conditions,” Lee continued.

After the news on the abuse broke on Thursday, Media Line Entertainment denied having known about the mistreatment of the band’s members. The company also said that it talked with the parents of the members and that the producer had taken responsibility for his actions.

The group made their debut in 2016 with the album “holla.” Four out of the six members are high school students.
