TVXQ gets Japan’s biggest crowds

K-pop duo TVXQ has drawn the largest number of concertgoers in Japan this year, beating both foreign and Japanese artists, its agency SM Entertainment said Monday.

According to the agency, the team ranked No. 1 on the list, compiled by Nikkei Entertainment, of performers’ ticket power. The duo’s concerts in Japan this year were attended by 1.28 million people.

BTS came in 19th with 375,000, while SHINee ranked 31st with 275,000, Exo at 35th with 259,000, iKON at 41st with 227,000, Seventeeen at 44th with 199,000, and Twice at 50th with 170,000.

The agency said the duo outperformed legendary Japanese stars, including rock duo B’z, boy band Arashi, and popular female artist Namie Amuro. TVXQ is the only Korean artist that made it into the top 10.

Earlier this year, the duo performed in Nagoya, Osaka, and Yokohama under the title “Live Tour ~ Begin Again ~.” The concert series was attended by more than 1 million people, a record for any foreign artist in Japan.

TVXQ is currently in the middle of another tour in Japan which consists of 33 concerts in 10 Japanese cities.’
