Fans call ‘Beasts’ tweet racist

The official Twitter account for the movie “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is receiving backlash after posting a photo of a Japanese actor and saying she was Korean actor Claudia Kim on Wednesday.

The post uploaded by the Twitter account @BeastsMovieUK featured photos of Japanese actor Mirei Kiritani, instead of Claudia Kim, along with the film’s leading actors Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Ezra Miller at the film’s premier event in London.

The post received thousands of retweets following the mistake, and the account immediately deleted the tweet and posted a photo of Kim. However, the incident did not escape criticism from fans.

“You considered two people the same just because they are Asian women. THIS IS RACISM. You are a[n] official account of UK. You shouldn’t act like this. Have some RESPECT these two,” read a retweet that received more than two thousand comments and three hundred likes.
