Shinhan Financial Group opens new HQ in Hong Kong

Shinhan Financial Group opened a global headquarters for investment banking in Hong Kong on Thursday to better pull resources for the overseas investment banking business.

The headquarters, named Group & Global Investment Banking Group (GIB), will oversee global investments and dealings that facilitate corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Cho Yong-byoung, chairman of the financial holdings group, said that the group will expand its business based on the new headquarters.

“The opening of GIB is not just intended to boost growth in the Hong Kong branch, but to upgrade the competitiveness of overseas business in the capital markets,” he said.
