DJ and music producer Maximite has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison with three years of suspended sentence.
The 28-year-old music producer, whose real name is Shin Min-chul, was found guilty of buying five tabs of LSD, a hallucinogenic, and using two of them in October 2016, as well as smoking marijuana in December 2016.
The court found him guilty, but suspended the sentence because he did not try to sell the rest of the LSD and “showed a strong will to quit drugs,” according to the sentencing.
As punishment, Maximite has been sentenced to 80 hours of social service, 40 hours of anti-addiction education and a fine of 253,000 won ($225).
Maximite is well-known as the producer of “Pick Me” (2015), the theme song for the first season of Mnet’s idol audition program “Produce 101” (2016).
