69 countries to screen ‘Underdog’

Korean animated film “The Underdog,” set for release next year, has been exported to 69 foreign countries, the film’s distributor said Friday.

The distributor, Next Entertainment World, said China, the United States, France, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia were among the 69 countries that have bought the right to screen the Korean film.

“The Underdog” tells the story of Moongchi, a pet dog whose adventure on the streets leads him to meet abandoned dogs with unique characters and have a taste freedom. The film will be released in January here.

It was directed by Oh Sung-yoon, who produced the 2011 hit animation, “Leafie, A Hen into the Wild.”

D.O., or Do Kyung-soo, a member of the popular K-pop boy band EXO, provided the voice for Moongchi.
