Korea’s 1st VR cinema opens today

Lotte Cultureworks will open Korea’s first virtual reality (VR) movie theater today, the company announced Friday.

“VR Future Cinema (VFC)” will start business beginning today on the seventh floor of the Lotte Cinema World Tower in Jamsil, southern Seoul.

The theatre, which will specialize in screening VR movies, will seat 24 people. “Volt: Chaos Gem” will be the first movie to screen there. “Volt” was invited to this year’s 22nd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival held in July.

“We have seen the potential of VR movies earlier this year. We hope that this becomes a chance for moviegoers to come in contact with VR content more easily, and also contribute to the development of the upcoming fourth industrial revolution,” said Lotte Cultureworks.
