SK Group will present a wide range of automotive tech at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year, with chief executives of core affiliates also attending the event in search of future business opportunities.

This is the first time multiple affiliates have collaborated to establish a joint booth at the annual event scheduled for next week in Las Vegas, the conglomerate said Tuesday. SK Innovation, SK Hynix and SKC will all take part in CES for the first time, joining SK Telecom at the event.

The theme of SK’s booth will be Innovative Mobility. Affiliates will present their technology designed for future vehicles. The booth will be located in the North Hall where carmakers tend to set up their booths. SK is hoping to use the event to boost its profile in the sector.

At the shared booth, SK Telecom will display its autonomous vehicle technology, such as a high-definition map that automatically updates real-time traffic information and its take on LiDAR, a laser surveying method that is able to detect light coming from objects 300 meters (984 feet) away.

The mobile carrier will also run another booth with SM Entertainment, the agency of K-pop stars like Exo and Red Velvet. The two will showcase their future entertainment technology using the 5G network such as HoloBox — an artificial intelligence-based hologram device that allows users to speak to an avatar.

Chipmaker SK Hynix will introduce DRAM and NAND flash memory specialized for self-driving cars at the shared booth. The company explained that memory solutions will be essential to process the massive amounts of data required for the vehicles in not only safety and maintaining a connection with their control center, but also for entertainment.

SK Innovation, originally known for its oil refining business, will show off its electric car batteries and a core component of the batteries called a Lithium-ion battery separator, for which it is the No. 2 supplier in the world.

It will display its “flexible cover window,” a flexible display component expected to be used in foldable smartphones in the near future.

SKC, a chemicals company, will present a range of new films that can be used to cover car windscreens and eco-friendly polyurethane material than can be used on car seats.

Chief executives of all four affiliates will attend the event on the hunt for new partnerships.

SK Telecom CEO Park Jung-ho will focus on seeking partnerships related to the company’s 5G network. As well as meeting potential clients, SK Innovation will also use the event to hold an internal strategy meeting to discuss its business portfolio, which the company has been pushing efforts to diversify over the last few years.
