Kang Daniel hints at April release

Kang Daniel, member of the now-disbanded K-pop boy band Wanna One, is preparing for his solo debut in April, his agency said Monday.

“Kang is preparing a record with the goal of debuting as a solo artist in April,” his management agency said, adding that details of the plan will be released in the future.

In a live video on his Instagram account a day earlier, the 23-year-old hinted at an April debut.

“I cannot give you the exact details of my future plan, but please meet me in April,” he said.

Also Monday, an online community for Kang Daniel’s fans was launched on internet portal Daum and drew over 90,000 fans in one day.

Kang set a Guinness World Record by gaining 1 million followers in less than 12 hours after starting a personal Instagram account on Jan. 1.

On the same day, another Wanna One member, Yoon Ji-sung, opened his online fan club on Daum ahead of his solo album release this spring.

Member Bae Jin-young also opened a Daum fan community and appeared on Naver’s V Live channel Monday.

Meanwhile, member Park Ji-hoon is scheduled to hold a meet-and-greet with his fans in the concert hall of Kyung Hee University in Seoul on Feb. 9.

Wanna One officially disbanded on Dec. 31, putting an end to their one-and-a-half-year journey. They will briefly get together for final concerts slated from Thursday to Sunday. Yonhap
