Cult complains about film portrayal

After a religious cult named Shincheonji made complaints against the production company behind the film “Svaha: The Sixth Finger,” claiming certain scenes from the film “may damage the reputation of the cult,” the company announced it had made several adjustments in the movie.

“We have received complaint calls [from the cult], and we explained that the film does not deal with a particular religious cult,” the company told the press Thursday.

In order to prevent any misunderstandings, the company said actor Lee Jung-jae re-recorded a scene where he talks about Shincheonji, right before the press preview took place Wednesday.

The movie, which is set to premiere on Feb. 20, tells the story of a priest who seeks to solve a mysterious case involving a dead girl who may have been involved in a religious cult named “Deer Hill.”
