L’Oreal, Unesco recognize women in science fields
L’Oreal and Unesco announced the five recipients of the 21st L’Oreal-Unesco for Women in Science awards in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Feb. 11.For the first time this year, the award, given to outstanding female scientists, was extended to experts in the field of math and computer science as well.
Recipients were chosen from five regions - Africa and the Arab States, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America.
The recipients of the awards will receive 100,000 euros ($112,596) at a ceremony scheduled for Mar. 14 at Unesco’s headquarters in Paris, France.
