Kim Ki-mun returns to top of Korea Federation of SMEs

Kim Ki-mun, CEO of local fashion accessories maker J.Estina, was appointed to head the Korea Federation of SMEs Thursday.

The organization represents the interest of 3.6 million small- and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country. The group said 533 of 563 people participated in the vote, and Kim earned 55.5 percent of the vote.

Kim will serve the body for four years from tomorrow as the 26th chairman.

It is Kim’s third term as chairman of the lobbying group for SMEs. He was the 23rd and 24th chairman, but skipped No. 25 due to a rule that prohibits serving three consecutive terms.

Despite being elected, Kim faces hurdles as he is accused of bribing voters and a reporter during his campaign for the election and also for unfair stock trading.
