TXT debuts on the Billboard charts

“The Dream Chapter: Star,” the debut album of new boy band Tomorrow X Together, also known as TXT, landed at 140 on the main Billboard 200 album chart, becoming the highest-charting debut album by a K-pop male act, Billboard said Tuesday.

The chart results, dated March 16, came after the release earned 7,000 equivalent album units in the United States in its opening week, Billboard said on its website, quoting Nielsen Music.

“[With the results], ‘Dream’ becomes the highest charting debut album by an all-male K-pop group on the Billboard 200,” Billboard said.

TXT, a male quintet from the same music label as K-pop world stars BTS, debuted with the album a week earlier. The album is fronted by “Crown,” a hypnotic synth-pop tune whose Korean title is translated as “One day horns grew from my head.”

One week after its debut, TXT topped Billboard’s Emerging Artists, as well as World Albums and World Digital Song Sales, charts.

The Emerging Artists chart ranks “the most popular developing artists of the week,” measuring artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, according to Billboard.

“TXT becomes the fourth K-pop group to lead the Emerging Artists chart and the first since NCT 127 in December,” it noted.

TXT also replaced BTS to take over the World Albums chart, which the latter had topped for the past 15 weeks in a row.
