Ryu gives up his first run of spring training against Reds

Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers gave up two runs and five hits during a spring training game against the Cincinnati Reds at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona, on Thursday.

This was the first time that Ryu has tossed four innings in spring training and also the first game in which he has given up a run. With two runs, Ryu’s ERA went up from 0.00 to 1.80.

This is Ryu’s fourth spring training game of the season. In the previous three games, he tossed a total of six scoreless innings. Against the Los Angeles Angels on Feb. 25, Ryu tossed one scoreless inning while he tossed two and three scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres and the Kansas City Royals on March 2 and March 9, respectively.

Choi Ji-man of the Tampa Bay Rays is also set for a strong season with a multihit against the Philadelphia Phillies during a spring training game on Thursday. Playing as the Rays’ clean-up hitter, Choi had two hits, bringing up his batting average from .350 to .391.
